Role Purpose
The incumbent will be responsible for end-to-end management of tea garden field and factory operations, ensuring optimal productivity, quality standards, cost efficiency, and compliance with statutory and sustainability norms.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations
· Oversee day-to-day tea cultivation activities including plucking, pruning, manuring, irrigation, and pest control
· Drive crop productivity, yield improvement, and quality enhancement initiatives
· Ensure proper deployment, supervision, and productivity of field workforce
· Monitor estate hygiene, replantation, and soil management practices
Factory Operations
· Manage CTC / Orthodox tea manufacturing processes from green leaf intake to finished product
· Ensure adherence to quality parameters, process controls, and food safety standards
· Optimize factory efficiency, reduce wastage, and control production costs
· Coordinate maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment
People & Industrial Relations
· Handle labour management, workforce planning, and statutory compliances
· Maintain healthy industrial relations with unions and workers
· Ensure implementation of welfare schemes, housing, health & safety measures
Compliance & Sustainability
· Ensure compliance with Plantation Labour Act, Factories Act, and other statutory regulations
· Support certification requirements (Rainforest Alliance / Trustea / ISO, etc.)
· Promote sustainable and ethical practices across field and factory operations
Reporting & Coordination
· Prepare operational MIS, productivity reports, and cost analyses
· Coordinate with senior management, agronomy teams, and corporate functions
· Support audits and inspections as required
Desired Candidate Profile
· Graduate / Postgraduate in Agriculture, Tea Management, Plant Sciences, or related discipline
· 5–14 years of hands-on experience in tea garden field and factory operations
· Strong knowledge of tea manufacturing processes, estate management, and labour laws
· Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage large workforces
· Willingness to be based in remote plantation locations
