Role Objectives

• Proven experience as safety in-charge

• In depth knowledge of statutory and legislative requirements pertaining to in factories & plantations.

• In-depth knowledge of H & S Risk management and relevant H&S standards to mitigate risk

• Good EHS Auditing skills, writing reports

• Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics

Key Responsibilities

• Establish H&S standard to maintain high level of standards in workplace health and safety

• Support the development of OHS policies and procedures

• Establish and conduct EHS Risk Assessment Process (Identification, Evaluation & Mitigation) and enforce preventative measures

• Establish Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) lin line with ISO standards and champion implementation

· Identify & mitigate Industry-Specific Challenges and Risks (Tea Gardens & Tea Factories)

· Machinery & Equipment Safety (Cutting, Withering, Rolling, Drying, etc.)
Field Worker Safety (Slips, Trips, Falls, Wildlife Encounters, Pesticide Exposure

• Building a culture of Safety ; conduct safety campaigns and promotional events to promote safety across the Units

• Initiate and organize OHS training of employees/Contractual and staff

• Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity

• Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.

• Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy

• Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims

• Prepare reports on issues & provide statistical information to senior management

• Knowledge of inspecting and auditing safety protection systems across the plant

• Should ensure hazardous waste management system process

• Proficiency in ISO 14001 and 45001 and Handling safety audits

• Should have the knowledge on onsite emergency response plan

· Ensure compliance to existing H&S Policies and device programs to develop best in class H&S standards

Qualifications and Experience Levels:

• Relevant Engineering or Science degree preferable with 10 to 15 yrs. experience as Safety In-charge

• Preferably Hold a safety certification in Industrial safety or Fire & Industrial safety management.

• Trained on ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standards as Lead auditor / internal auditor

• Proficient in MS Office

• Excellent communication & training skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
