Job Purpose / Summary
We are seeking an experienced and result-oriented Zonal Head to lead and drive the growth of the Aspiring Business Group across a large geographic zone comprising multiple regions. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and executing business strategies, driving sales and profitability, strengthening portfolio quality, and ensuring operational excellence across the zone.
The role demands a seasoned banking professional with proven expertise in secured and unsecured business lending, large-scale team management, channel development, portfolio governance, and stakeholder management. The Zonal Head will provide strategic direction to Regional Heads and their teams while ensuring sustainable business growth, high customer satisfaction, and adherence to risk and compliance standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Lead the overall business performance of the assigned Zone and ensure achievement of business, profitability, and growth objectives.
• Formulate and implement zonal-level business strategies aligned with organizational goals.
• Identify market opportunities and expansion plans to increase market share and business penetration.
Business Growth & Revenue Management
• Drive growth in secured and unsecured business loan products, including LAP, Business Loans, CC, and OD facilities.
• Ensure achievement of disbursement, revenue, productivity, and customer acquisition targets across the Zone.
• Monitor and improve branch productivity through effective sales strategies and performance management.
Team Leadership & People Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop Regional Heads, Cluster Heads, Area Managers, and Relationship Managers.
• Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and customer-centricity.
• Identify leadership talent and create succession plans for critical roles.
• Drive employee engagement initiatives and maintain low attrition levels.
Channel Development & Distribution Management
• Strengthen and expand Direct Sourcing and DSA channels across the Zone.
• Establish strategic partnerships with channel partners, connectors, and industry stakeholders.
• Optimize sourcing efficiency and customer acquisition costs.
Portfolio & Risk Management
• Ensure strong portfolio quality through robust monitoring of delinquency trends and early warning indicators.
• Drive collection efficiency and NPA management across the Zone.
• Collaborate with Risk, Credit, Collections, and Legal teams to maintain healthy portfolio performance.
• Ensure compliance with credit and underwriting policies.
Market Penetration & Business Expansion
• Analyze regional market dynamics, customer behavior, competitor activities, and economic trends.
• Launch and implement growth initiatives in emerging markets and underpenetrated segments.
• Drive customer retention and cross-selling strategies to enhance wallet share.
Operational Governance & Compliance
• Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks.
• Monitor audit observations and implement corrective actions across the Zone.
• Drive operational excellence through process improvements and digitization initiatives.
Performance Monitoring
• Review zonal and regional performance through dashboards, MIS reports, and business reviews.
• Implement corrective action plans to bridge performance gaps.
• Ensure effective forecasting, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Credit, Operations, Product, Technology, Finance, Risk, and HR teams.
• Facilitate faster decision-making, process efficiency, and superior customer experience.
• Act as the key escalation point for business-critical issues within the Zone.
Experience / Skillset / Certifications Required
Experience & Leadership
• 18+ years of experience in Banking, NBFCs, or Financial Services.
• Minimum 10–12 years of experience in leadership roles managing multiple regions and large distributed teams.
• Proven track record of driving business growth in lending businesses.
Business Lending Expertise
• Strong experience in Secured and Unsecured Business Loans, LAP, Working Capital Financing, CC, and OD products.
• Thorough understanding of credit risk frameworks, underwriting processes, and portfolio management.
Distribution & Channel Management
• Demonstrated success in scaling DSA and Direct Sales channels.
• Strong relationship management capabilities with channel partners and key stakeholders.
Strategic & Commercial Acumen
• Strong understanding of business planning, profitability management, and market development.
• Ability to identify new business opportunities and implement growth strategies.
People Leadership
• Proven ability to manage large teams across diverse geographies.
• Strong coaching, mentoring, and talent development skills.
Analytical & Decision-Making Skills
• Expertise in data analytics, forecasting, business planning, and performance management.
• Ability to make informed decisions using business intelligence and market insights.
Industry Background
• Preferably from Banking, NBFC, or Financial Services sectors with extensive exposure to business lending and distribution management.
Overall Skills
• Graduate (Mandatory)
